Privacy Act

The Australian Federal Government’s Privacy Act 1988 has ten National Privacy Principles which we have adopted. These Principles govern the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your personal information.

What Personal Information do we collect and why?

We receive and store information you enter on our website or give us in any other way from time to time. The kind of personal information we collect is your name, address, email address, phone number and may include additional personal details relevant to your volunteer registration or help requests via this website.

We collect this information in a number of ways – through online forms, through our volunteer registration process, when you see us for information or help, email, through this website (www.floodhelpnr.com.au), through employee/ volunteers/ work experience interviews, and from media, publications and other publicly available sources.

We collect this information so that we can arrange assistance for recovery efforts, to send you information about our activities/ events, for marketing and in circumstances where you would reasonably expect this use or disclosure.

You may unsubscribe from our mailing lists at any time by contacting us via email, or unsubscribing through the link in the newsletter.

Third Parties

We will never disclose your personal details to a third party except the necessary information required by volunteers and other people engaged to deliver our activities, including responding to recovery requests from community members. 

We may however use in a general sense without any reference to your name, your information to create statistics, identify demands and to assist in meeting community recovery needs generally. In addition, we may use the information that you provide to improve our website and services but not for any other use.

We do not, and will not, sell or deal in personal or customer information.

Keeping your information Secure

We keep all your information secure whether it is held in hard copy or electronically. Our computers are username and password protected and only authorised staff members have access to personal information. Information that is held in hard copy is held in a lockable cabinet.=

Disclosing Information

Your personal information will not be given to any other organisation or person without your approval, unless we are required to by law. Any information that is provided to government funding bodies to meet reporting obligations, is non-identifiable.
